Job Title: Mechanical Inspector


Position Overview:

Join a cutting-edge aerospace manufacturing company specializing in advanced gears and actuators for the spaceflight industry. The Mechanical Inspector will play a crucial role in ensuring product quality and compliance with engineering and industry standards. This is a direct-hire role located in Beverly, MA, offering competitive pay ($35.00-$45.00/hour), PTO, 401(k) matching, and an annual bonus.


Key Responsibilities:
Inspection Activities:

  • Perform high-precision dimensional inspections to verify product conformance against engineering drawings and models.
  • Create and execute CMM and vision system programs based on drawings or models.
  • Conduct first article inspections (FAIs) in compliance with AS9102 and customer-specific requirements.


Quality Support:

  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers to develop and validate inspection plans and checklists.
  • Assist in identifying and documenting non-conforming product conditions and discrepancies.
  • Generate Discrepancy Reports and facilitate non-conforming material disposition actions.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Work closely with the aerospace team to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
  • Validate and verify programs (e.g., CMM, vision systems) to ensure accuracy and reliability.


Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to AS9100 and AS9102 standards.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and records to support industry and customer requirements.


Qualifications:
Education & Experience:

  • Proficiency in high-precision dimensional inspection in an aerospace or related industry.
  • Hands-on experience with CMM programming and inspection (e.g., Zeiss, Hexagon).
  • Familiarity with inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, profilometers, and optical comparators.


Skills:

  • GD&T (ANSI/ASME Y14.5): Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles.
  • Inspection Equipment: Proficient in manual and visual inspection techniques, including microscopes, surface plates, and hardness testers.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 standard requirements.
