A week in the life of an Electrical Engineer



  • Design, develop, and evaluate the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery and related equipment
  • Support the USCG by reviewing third party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems and components
  • Perform design reviews, evaluate constructability to help resolve technical issues
  • Manage information generated through the design and construction phases of multiple projects
  • Create graphical representations of structures
  • Inspect equipment systems
  • Research advanced engineering designs and applications

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering OR High School Diploma and 11+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance.


At least 6+ years of experience in:



  • Progressively responsible experience in MarineExterior Ships Communications
  • Marine systems, electrical systems, machinery control systems, power generation, distribution systems or interior communication systems.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy Power Distribution Architectures.
  • Familiarity with USN, USCG, ABS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $106,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides for the welfare of its employees and their dependents through a comprehensive benefits program by offering healthcare benefits, paid leave, retirement plans (including ESOP and 401k), insurance programs, and education and training assistance.
